CONSACRATIO Divus Valerianus II, raising his right hand and holding long scepter in his left, reclining left on eagle flying to right with thunderbolt in talons. Cohen -, cf. 5 (no thunderbolt). MIR -, cf. 911e (no thunderbolt). RIC -, cf. 9 (no thunderbolt). An apparently unpublished variety. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die, otherwise, good very fine.

This coin differs from all other known examples from this issue in showing the eagle on the reverse holding a thunderbolt in his talons, a suitable attribute of Jupiter's sacred bird
